The South Facility Phase A project is a new police facility that will centralize operations and replace several older facilities that will be decommissioning. The 15-acre greenfield site is located in the south of Ottawa adjacent to the Rideau River. The client mandate for the facility was to accommodate a variety of Front Line, Specialized Units, a Communications Centre, administrative offices and special function vehicles in a highly flexible building with 24/7 operations with extensive building services redundancy provisions.
An in depth understanding of the facility’s multi-use functions, and Owner, users, and community requirements allowed us to layer in a design solution that promotes comfort, collegiality, and high functioning rapid response.
The end result will be a welcoming, secure and consolidated home for the Ottawa Police Services – in a highly-functional, state-of-the-art facility that will support the OPS for decades to come.
The project, to be completed February 2027, is in joint venture with Moriyama Teshima Architects.
