The York Chapel and Administration Centre is one of The Mount Pleasant Group’s new funerary centres built over the past decade or so to accommodate the changing needs of the community in respect to burial, cremation and related funerary memorial services.

As part of an overall masterplan that included a connection to the historically designated administrative building Sheppard House the new facility includes an arrival welcome centre, a 150 seat memorial chapel, 2 inter-connected reception rooms, 3 viewing rooms, a courtyard lounge and other related funerary service functions. While designed as a contemporary facility the exterior warm brick and muted interior colour palette provide a calming and sympathetic relationship to the adjoining Sheppard House. The new complex has been carefully integrated into an overall site plan development that features outdoor courtyard spaces, terraces and gardens that provide various opportunities for celebration and quiet reflection.
